Driving Ambition for Nemo's Sammy Bartley
Nemo marketing manager and motor racing enthusiast Sammy Bartley, has been selected from thousands of women across the UK to take part in the Formula Woman elimination camp at the beginning of July, which aims to find the best 16 female racing drivers in the UK. She will be competing against 99 other female drivers at a secret location for one of 16 places in the all girl line up to compete in the prestigious Formula Woman Championship this summer. Sammy will be racing a 1.6 K series Rover engined Caterham 7.

Formula Woman is a unique motor racing concept designed to attract and assist more women to enter the arena of motor sport and is the only female motor racing Championship in the country. Over the past 3 years there have been over 15,000 entrants to the Formula Woman competition with event coverage on ITV, Channel 4 and Sky.

Sammy has been selected from over 1300 women and to reach this stage is a major achievement in itself. She was required to participate in a grueling assessment process comprising track driving, karting, fitness, a written test and an interview. From this initial assessment process the final 100 woman were chosen to compete in a 2 day elimination camp.

Sammy has a keen environmental interest and is pleased to note that in 2007 Formula Woman will be the only Championship in the UK to run on E85, which is hybrid bio-ethanol and is far greener than regular fuel, which highlights the importance of developing environmentally friendly motor sport.

So a word from the driver herself….“I will relish the opportunity to be a positive role model for thousands of women who also enjoy the thrill and passion of motor racing. Historically a man’s sport, I truly believe that I have the essentials to compete in this pioneering championship - speed, control and steely determination. My recent testing times have proven to be very competitive putting me in a strong position to make the grid.

I will be looking for far-sighted sponsors to support me throughout the championship. If you are interested in supporting a true professional, please contact me on sammyb@nemogroup.co.uk”

The Formula Woman Novice Championship will run over 8 races throughout the summer of 2007 at four circuits around the UK; Brands Hatch, Pembrey, Snetterton and home of the British Grand prix – Silverstone.
