The NEMO Conference wraps up for another year, as the industry’s best attended event, held just outside of Lincolnshire, at the Forest Pines Golf Hotel and Country Club in Brigg finished after what was a spectacular and record-breaking weekend.

The weekend saw over a 90% attendance from NEMO members and a huge turnout from exhibitors, as members and suppliers positive atmosphere cemented the value of the event.

As the industry still faces uncertain and challenging times, it was great to see NEMO members out in force to support their supplier partners and reaffirmed to suppliers the strong year and recent successes NEMO have had.

The annual golf tournament started proceedings, with players being treated to the excellent course.

Friday afternoon saw delegates split into teams for various activities; archery, penalty shootout, super slalom and human table football. Human table football was a particularly comedic and somewhat competitive activity for all involved.

Friday evening’s Après Ski themed proved to be popular with delegates, as they were treated to an evening of fancy dress – ear muffs and hats were readily available – whilst dining on a delicious buffet, with a fantastic live Oompa Band keeping guests entertained.

Attendees were then kept laughing with a snowboard and ski simulator, a photobooth complete with flattering accessories and the ever popular ice luge.

NEMO’s usual Saturday’s business session was left out for this year, as instead delegates attended three breakout workshops, hosted by Antalis, Armadillo Social and DAMS International, of which the feedback to this change has been extremely positive.

Business continued with the supplier exhibition, which boasted a record breaking number of 53 exhibitors, 10 which were new, meaning the exhibition had to be split in two halls. The exhibition atmosphere was positive, whilst Twitter was inundated with photos, welcomes and thanks.

Stuart Colley, Regional Sales Manager for Antalis reflected on the exhibition; “the conference was a great success, well attended as usual and always good to catch-up with members in a relaxed atmosphere. As a group there was certainly a togetherness feeling which came out over the weekend and the members that I spoke to are definitely eager to support and make sure that we all get success.”

Ryan McMaster, Business Development Manager at Ricoh reflected Stuart’s comments; “yet again the NEMO conference was exceptionally well organised – a great way to mix business in relaxed surroundings, with suppliers and members all forming strong bonds. Many of the membership took time to visit, listen and explore our stand.  All in all, an enjoyable success!”

The event finished in elegance as the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony took over the hotel on Saturday evening, where guests enjoyed a luxurious three course meal at the black tie event, whilst amazing close up magician Tom Wright stunned guests at their tables.

Attendees were also very generous with their fundraising for NEMO’s chosen charity: MacMillan Cancer Support, raising a massive £1070 on the night.

Kiran D Mistry, MD of Colop UK gave a heartfelt toast to members; highlighting the supremely well organised event, the long associations many suppliers have had with NEMO, and the reasons why NEMO has enjoyed such a long and successful history – owned and run by the members, bringing success not only to members but also to suppliers.

Kiran summarised the NEMO Group in three words; camaraderie, conviviality and commerce, and wished for many more successful years working with NEMO.

The hotly contested awards followed afterwards, recognising the achievements throughout the year.

This year’s winners were:

Best New Product – Snopake Brands for their Polka Dot Filing Range

Best Stand of Show – VOW Europe

Vendor of the Year – DAMS International

Dealer Excellence Award – Longfellows Office Supplies

The Design Unique Award for Innovation – Fellowes for their I-Spire Range

There was also a surprise award presented on the night. Barry Roach was presented with the prestigious Special Recognition Award, for his commitment and professionalism to the industry at large and the whole of the NEMO Group.

Saturday night continued with fantastic entertainment from The British Rat Pack who got the whole hall dancing to the fantabulous swing act

Gordon Moore, DAMS International, commented “I think it was the best one yet! We thought everyone was really responsive and engaging. The business sessions were very positive and the attitude of those in attendance re-enforced just how driven the group and its members are! It was great to be part of it and left us feeling that we had experienced a truly great event. I honestly don’t think it could have been any better”

Tim Beaumont, MD of NEMO congratulated all the winners on the night and thanked all the delegates, NEMO members and staff who helped to make the weekend such an enjoyable, successful and positive one.
