NEMO Conference looks back at 30 years of success
This year’s NEMO Conference was held just outside of Coventry at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel and Country Club, and proved once again to be a fantastic weekend.
The weekend saw over a 90% attendance from NEMO members and a huge turnout from exhibitors, as the group celebrates 30 years of putting the dealer first, with the whole weekend tailored around celebrating the innovative dealer groups anniversary.
NEMO members turned out in force to support their supplier partners and reaffirmed the special relationship NEMO have with its suppliers.
The annual golf tournament started proceedings, with players being treated to the excellent, albeit at times challenging, course. Friday afternoon then saw delegates split into teams for various activities including archery, human table football and crossbow activities, which thankfully the rain held off for the most part!
Friday evening’s 80’s theme proved popular with delegates, as everyone donned their best 80’s throwback costume- whilst dining on a delicious BBQ buffet, with a fantastic live 80’s tribute. NEMO also had entertainment in the form of various standing and table-top arcade machines and a working Sinclair C5, which delegates would later bid on to take home in a charity auction, raising money for Cancer Research UK.
Saturday morning saw NEMO’s members attend three informative breakout workshops, hosted by Antalis, Armadillo Social Media and DAMS International.
Business continued with the supplier exhibition, which boasted an impressive 47 stands. The exhibition atmosphere was positive, whilst Twitter was inundated with photos, welcomes and thanks with NEMO’s social media surgery stand a firm favourite.
Chris Gaskell, Senior Director of Channel and Brand Marketing at Acco said ‘It was a busy conference that offered many opportunities to meet with dealers and discuss the new trends and technologies set to shape the industry.’
The event finished in style as the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony took over the hotel on Saturday evening, where guests enjoyed a luxurious three course meal at the black tie event, whilst entertainment was provided by a trio of top London comedians and a magic act from Alfie Whattam.
In recognition of the anniversary, NEMO welcomed on stage it’s 17 members present that have been with the group over 20 years, to a standing ovation by delegates.
Attendees were also very generous with their fundraising for NEMO’s chosen charity: Cancer Research UL, raising a massive £2550 on the night. The aforementioned arcade machine and Sinclair C5 were auctioned off by Richard Ford of Spicers, contributing to the money raised
Kiran D Mistry, MD of Colop UK sent a congratulatory video, from his location in Loch Ness, as he completes his John O’Groats to Lands’ End cycle tour, thanking NEMO and its members for its years of custom and toasting the closer relationship NEMO have to all suppliers.
