Nemo member Kudos Office Supplies, based in Chesterfield, has teamed up with wholesaler Spicers to donate much needed stationery and paper to schools in Malawi.

The Backpack Project

The two businesses have been involved in the Backpack Project, organised by the Mount St Mary’s College, Chesterfield. The project recycles quality backpacks filled with useful items to support children in education.

The equipment and supplies, such as pencils, notepads and erasers will be distributed to children in Malawi who are desperately poor. The stationery will help support them in their fight to escape poverty and to get the most out of their lessons.

A co-ordinated effort

The project was spearheaded by Richard Smithers, Spicers Account Director and his family . The whole of Kudos Office Supplies and Spicers stock team also took time to help organise the backpacks and equipment.

Mary’s Meals

The project is additional to Mary’s Meals, a charity currently feeding 1.3 million children every day through fundraising initiatives. For many children, a Mary’s Meals backpack will be the first gift they receive.
